Botox is a neuromuscular blocking injectable drug, which basically means it stops the transmission of chemicals that tell muscles to move.
When you apply Botox to those tiny facial muscles that cause your face to wrinkle, it allows the skin to flatten out and appear younger. As an added benefit, Botox can also stop the occurrence of migraine headaches.
The following is a list of frequently asked questions about Botox from patients at our offices. If you still have questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to contact us.
Botox is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments available, administered to over 7 million individuals in more than 70 countries.
The treatment applications for Botox are wide ranging, but as Dr. Blusewicz and Dr. Coley offer their patients Botox injections, they typically use Botox to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles on the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes.
Botox is usually around 14 dollars per unit in the region, but it may vary. So, at $14 per unit, if you need 25 units to treat forehead creases, the cost would be $350. If you need 20 units, it would be $280, and so on. Also when considering cost, keep in mind that if you receive regular Botox treatments, you eventually will need 3-4 treatments per year to keep up your refreshed appearance. Some patients require less Botox as time goes on and thereby the costs are slightly less from year to year. #Botox Bluffton #Botox Hilton Head
Botox Cosmetic is a purified protein, commonly called botulinum toxin type A. the effects of Botox were first studied in the 1960s. In 1989, the FDA gave clearance for botulinum type a to treat muscle spasms. FDA clearance for cosmetic use was granted in 2002 and millions of patients have been treated since then.
Our patients say the treatment feels no worse than an noseeum bite. While we typically do not administer anesthesia for Botox treatment, a numbing cream can be applied to the area in certain cases. We usually apply an icepack to the injection site immediately before and after the injection.
